Communication is one of the important elements to learning life's daily lessons. Communication is defined as the exchange of information between people by means of speaking, writing, or using a common system of signs or behaviors.
Since 1999, Bridging Brown County, has been committed to exchanging and sharing information. Its mission is "Strengthening the Brown County Community by bridging relationships of understanding and communication." Our goals are to better the communication and understanding among communities, make aware the interdependency of communities within the county area, promote the county as providing a viable lifestyle for present and future residents, support industry and economic development within the county, and nurture and support individual community traditions. Programs such as Network Brown County, Congress of Elected and Appointed Officials, Blandin Community Leadership program and annual workshop all define the communication element BBC strives to attain day in and day out not only within our County but beyond its borders.
Leadership in Brown County rises each year via the 20 or so participants in the Network Brown County Leadership Program. Since September 2007 when BBC hosted "Building Regional Economic Development," BBC continues to work closely with the Brown County Economic Partners, Inc. and Region 9 to facilitate county-wide collaborative economic development efforts.
Bridging Brown County has also been fortunate in the awards category. BBC received the Association of Minnesota Counties Achievement Award in 2006 and the Local Government Innovation Award from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs in 2007. Both of these award plaques were shared with the Brown County Commissioners in recognition of their strong support of BBC.
Bridging Brown County honors leadership efforts. In 2007, Jerry Bentz received the Brown County Bridge Builders award for his dedication to BBC and county-wide communication.
Needless to say communication takes more than one person. The commitment and generosity of the 12 representatives who volunteer their time at meetings, events, and workshops and the work done by Beth is remarkable. There are also many individuals who help with day-chairing sessions, facilitating workshops and volunteering space and snacks for meetings.
As this report demonstrates, strengthening communication is what Bridging Brown County is all about. We are grateful for your support and the support of the county, cities, townships and individuals. We are confident our mission will to be communicated daily throughout Brown County.
Sincerely,
Barbara Horsch
