Director Position

Part-Time Position
Our mission is to strengthen our community by bridging relationships of understanding and communication in Brown County. The Director is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.  Also providing program coordination. This position must also adhere to the standards of Bridging Brown County through demonstrating:
  • Dependability – Being able to rely upon to lead and complete job responsibilities with little directions.
  • Adaptable – being able to adapt quickly to meet the needs of the program and the board.
  • Creative – find fun and collaborative ways of getting groups to work together.
  • Knowledge – Maintain and understanding market trends.
  • Communication- Being able to properly and efficiently relay information to the Bridging Brown County Board and Program participants as well as presenters.
  • Team Driven – Work together for a common goal to ensure a healthy future for the organization.
The director has an overall responsibility to the board and the program to continue to grow and build these programs. Must demonstrate good written and oral skills along with the items listed above. Have a sincere commitment to the Bridging Brown county values and mission.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
  2. Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.
  3. Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization's work.
  4. Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  5. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field.
  6. Assist in the communications and connection throughout Brown County among elected officials and city employees via forums, town halls and workshops.
  7. Provide leadership to the Bridging Brown County Leadership Program including Convene steering committee and day chairpersons, contact resource people and provide logistical support
  8. Coordinate and facilitate an educational workshop for county residents including communications, agenda development, contact resource people, provide logistical support and lead the day long process.
  9. Provide leadership to collaborative projects as directed by the board
  10. See that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it including administration of Board and committee meetings.
  11. Serve as the Executive Secretary.             
  12. Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals. Including
    1. Bridging Brown County Newsletters – three times a year
    2. Maintain Bridging Brown County web site
    3. Timely press releases and media contacts
    4. All social media.
  13. Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations
  14. Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the general public
  15. Adhere to confidentiality in relation to all aspects of the position.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Ensure that job descriptions are updated, that regular performance evaluations are emailed out in May to Board Members, and employee evaluation is held in June, and that sound human resource practices are in place.
  2. Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse program participation. 
  3. Work with the the board in preparing a budget; see that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
  4. Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work.
  5. Jointly, with the president and secretary of the board of directors, conduct official correspondence of the organization, and jointly, with designated officers, execute legal documents.
  6. Coordinate fundraising/development efforts including grant writing and administration
  7. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  1. Requires professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for communicating with board of directors, leadership program participants, and general public.
  2. Display professional image, leadership by example.
  3. Able to be flexible and adaptable to changing job requirements.
  4. Able to effectively and professionally communicate, including both written and verbal communication, with all board members, participants, and general public.
  5. Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. 
  6. Highly organized, self-motivated, and self-managed (sets/clarifies goals).
  7. Able to work independently to perform assigned accountabilities, as well as able to independently identify work that needs to be done.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  1. Requires completion of high school education.
  2. Requires at least two years clerical experience.
  3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, QuickBooks, and Outlook.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Sitting 75% and standing/walking 25%.
  2. Working at a computer 85% of the day.
  3. Occasional lifting up to fifteen lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. Works in a typical administrative setting with climate control and appropriate lighting.
